‘JEAN MICHEL JARRE: ESSENTIALS & RARITIES’ - NEW COMPILATION ALBUM
Francis Dreyfus Music’s UK Distributor, Discovery Records (www.discovery-records.com), have confirmed to JARRE UK, that Jean Michel Jarre & Francis Dreyfus Music will be releasing a NEW 2CD Compilation Album, entitled ‘ESSENTIALS & RARITIES’, on Francis Dreyfus Music’s Disques Dreyfus Label (Catalogue Number: FDM 46050362872), worldwide from May 30th 2011, and in the UK from June 13th 2011.
Originally officially announced by Jean Michel Jarre on his Official Web-Site (www.jeanmicheljarre.com)
as ‘MEMORIES & RARITIES’ on December 21st 2010, the NEW Compilation Album will feature a 15-Track CD of Greatest Hits, all formerly released on Francis Dreyfus Music’s Disques Dreyfus Label (1976-2002), and a 16-Track CD of Pre-’OXYGENE’ Rarities (1968-1973 & 2010), all specially selected by Jean Michel Jarre himself.
Although the ‘ESSENTIALS’ CD does not offer any new material, and strangely neglects Jean Michel Jarre’s highly successful ‘CHRONOLOGIE’ and ‘OXYGENE 7-13′ Albums, the ‘RARITIES’ CD does contain some very rare Tracks from Jean Michel Jarre’s Pre-’OXYGENE’ era, many that have only ever been officially released in limited quantities on Vinyl in the late 1960s and early 1970s, A-Side & B-Side Remixes of Jean Michel Jarre’s first ever Single ‘LA CAGE’ by the French Electronic Musician Vitalic (www.vitalic.org) from 2010, and the extremely rare, previously unreleased, and highly sought after Track ‘HAPPINESS IS A SAD SONG’ from 1968, full details of which are as follows:-

Discovery Records (www.discovery-records.com), also confirmed to JARRE UK, that Francis Dreyfus Music originally had planned to simultaneously release the ‘RARITIES’ CD, along with Remastered Versions of Jean Michel Jarre’s ‘OXYGENE’ and ‘EQUINOXE’ Albums, on Limited Release Vinyls from May 30th 2011, but these are now believed to be scheduled for an unconfirmed date later in the year.
